Finding a non-toxic nail polish at your local drugstore is almost impossible. So when Sophi Nail Polish asked if I’d like to review a few products, I was quick to say yes. Saying my skin is “sensitive” is an understatement. Sadly, most name brand nail polishes will have me itching in seconds of applying it, and the itching will last until I remove it. Insert -never wearing nail polish or finding ones with less of a toxic load. I have yet to find any that could boast of being toxic-free, odorless, and hypoallergenic, until Sophi Polish. That’s why I thought the brand deserved a try + a review.
I’m going to be honest, when I first received the box of pretty colors, I was a little taken back by the 4-step system: Prime, Color, Shine, Seal. I’m naturally not a patient person. However, once I finished the process I could see why Priming and Sealing was so important. I couldn’t have been happier with how my DIY red manicure came out. The color was rich and the finish was smooth, no different than other brands i’ve used. When you think about it, there’s probably a reason all professional nail salons follow the same steps. The best part of this process was no crazy, eye-watering, skin itching fumes. My husband and children will be ever so thankful for this fact the next time I paint my nails in the car- which is typically when I have the time to paint them. Even with the 3 and 5 Free Formulas, there is still quite a strong smell which leads to the windows being rolled down and that does nothing for my hair. It’s a viscous cycle:)
A few more facts I loved about the company is that their products are made in the USA and are vegan and cruelty free. As far as I know, this is the safest option for those with sensitivities, those who want to avoid harsh chemicals, and even children. Bonus, they also have their own nail polish remover which worked well and is acetone free, low odor, and eco-friendly. That is a rare find for a nail polish remover! Overall I was very happy with the color quality, the integrity of the formulas, and the odor free aspect which allows for painting your nails in any environment without worrying if it’s bothering someone. I would definitely recommend buying the primer and sealer if you’re wanting your mani or pedi to last and look professional. It’s not the quickest drying formula I’ve ever used, but i’ll invest a few extra minutes for formulas that are better and safer for me, my family, and the environment.
