Dry Skin, Eczema, these are words that have been a part of my vocabulary since I was a small child. After years of coating my skin in fancy creams or steroids full of side-effects and harmful ingredients, I’ve learned a few ways to use simple, natural ingredients that help my skin heal and remain healthy. One of those habits is taking an oil bath.
Oil Bath Method: Dry Skin
An oil bath is simply pouring a few teaspoons of a moisturizing oil into your bath. Soak. Pat dry. Done. See, I told you it was simple. I use Almond Oil (other oils work great too: coconut, olive, etc..). It’s packed full of Vitamin E +A, and absorbs quickly without leaving your skin too oily. It also works greats as an overnight hair mask. Apply to wet hair, wrap it in a loose bun (cover if needed) and wash in the morning.
Oil Bath Method: Super Dry Skin
Some days my skin needs a little extra moisture (like when I forget to apply sunscreen at the beach) Ouch! Bonus: Almond oil helps sunburn! So on your extra dry days (or sunburnt days) apply almond oil straight to your wet skin, pat dry, and you’re good to go. Applying it to wet skin helps it rub in easily and leave you with just the right amount of moisture (as opposed to slippery skin).
Add Lavender:
If you don’t like the somewhat bland smell of your chosen oil or your looking for extra skin-loving benefits, try Lavender. It has amazing healing properties and can relax you too. Who doesn’t need a little of that? Wishing you all healthy, happy skin!
