Mumbelli Infant Bed Review: Bassinet And Co-Sleeper

Mumbelli Infant Bed Bassinet Co-Sleeper

One of the most important purchases new parents make when preparing to welcome their new bundle of joy is a baby bed. It’s honestly one of the few things baby will actually need when he or she arrives (other than milk and diapers of course). So when Mumbelli first reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in reviewing their womb-like infant bed, I definitely gave their site a thorough read before accepting.

With baby stores full of different type of beds: bassinets, Moses baskets, cribs, co-sleepers, etc.. the options are endless and quite frankly overwhelming and overpriced. However, the idea of an infant bed that helps transition baby from womb to crib was intriguing and I was happy to accept a Mumbelli for our sweet Scarlett. Here’s what I thought..

Mumbelli Infant Bed: What I Loved

Womb-Like Support

I’ve always felt that taking a baby straight from womb to a crib was not ideal for mom or baby. They go from this warm, snug environment to a cold, open world. They lose that feeling they’ve enjoyed for 9 months. So I love the comfort and closeness the Mumbelli provides. The foot insert, for example, provides great support for baby. I also love that it’s adjustable so it can be personalized for each baby and grow with them. What I’ve never liked about most bassinets is the open, flat feel. The Mumbelli is much more supportive. Portability And Versatility

My first birth ended with an emergency C-section after a very long labor. I can’t even imagine walking from room to room, reaching down in a crib for baby, pulling up, and nursing every 2 hours after recovering from that birth. So I’ve always been in favor of having baby sleep in the room with me for the first couple of months. The Mumbelli is a great option for that transition period for mom and baby. It can be used as a co-sleeper, a bassinet, or a crib insert. It’s also lightweight which makes it easy to move from room to room, or even as a travel bed.

Mumbelli Infant Bed Review

Being that Scarlett has two older brothers, I also love having a bed I can easily move to where we are and know her brothers can safely interact with her. We are currently using ours throughout the house during the day for naps, or when she just needs a place nearby while I work, and in our pack n play beside our bed at night. Our future plan is to transition her to her nursery by placing the Mumbelli in her crib in a couple of months.

Wedge Insert

Sadly, all of my babies have dealt with spit up for the first few weeks. Even In the hospital Scarlett would spit up, make this horrible choking sound and totally freak mommy out. Thankfully one of my amazing nurses showed me how the infant hospital beds are adjustable and the head of the bed can elevate. Score! This definitely helped with her spitting up and breathing during our hospital stay. The wedge insert works great for babies with any reflux and fits perfectly under the mattress so it’s safe and comfortable.

It’s Washable

Speaking of spit up- as a mom of three, I value the ease of washability. If it can be unzipped and thrown in the washing machine, I’m sold. The Mumbelli does just that, just unzip the plush cover and toss it in the wash. This is especially helpful when it has sat in storage and you want to reuse it for your next baby or to pass on to another. So many baby items come with only the “wipe down” option, and after a messy diaper or huge spit up, I’d rather just let my washing machine do the dirty work (anyone else?). Mumbelli Infant Bed: Longer Sleep Stretches

There are few things I value more than sleep. When we first brought Scarlett home we had been using our pack n play (the kind with a sleeper/napper and changing table attached) for her to sleep in by our bed. This is what I used with my first two and knowing that we would be renting for the next two months (long house flood story) it was the option that made the most sense. However, I had been using the Mumbelli to let her take naps in whatever room we happened to be in during the day. When I noticed how well she was sleeping in it, I decided to try it out at night. When she was sleeping in the pack n play napper she would only go for 2 hour stretches. The second night of using Mumbelli, she gave me a near 6 hour stretch. I woke up amazed and in love with this bed!

What I Would Change or Add to Mumbelli Infant Bed

I always try to give an honest review: the good, the bad, and the ugly. I value my readers and never want to give them a biased review. However, it was hard to find something I really didn’t like about the Mumbelli bed. I would love for them to add an option like a stand to place the bed in if you wanted to use it as a bedside option without a pack n play or crib, similar to a moses basket or bassinet with a stand. Overall, I think the Mumbelli is a perfect bed to welcome and support your new baby. I can assuredly say it has the approval of Scarlett Rose and Mommy.
