Free Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Mother’s day gifts don’t have to be expensive to make mom feel loved, they can even be free. All of these gifts can be made with everyday items found within your home or backyard. Throw in a little time and planning and you have gifts for mom that will show her she is thought about and loved.

DIY Mother’s Day Cards

Gather up the littles and the craft supplies you have on hand and make a card for Mom (or Grandma) that she will want to keep for years to come. Bonus- you can keep the $5 and save yourself a trip down the crowded grocery store card aisle. Find the thickest paper you have on hand, fold it, and you now have a card that just needs a little dressing up…

Stamp A Hand or Foot In Ink or Paint

These never get old. I love seeing those tiny prints and remembering the time when those sweet hands and feet were smaller. Just remember to date the card so mom or grandma can remember how old those prints are.

Break Out The Watercolor

Does Mom have favorite colors? Pick a few and let the littles loose.

Press A Flower

Have the little ones pick wildflowers/weeds, press them down in a book for a few hours (or days), and then glue/tape them to a piece of paper.

Now all you need to do is ask the little ones what they love about mom and write it down (or have them write it if possible).

Something from the Kitchen

There’s something especially tasty about food that you didn’t have to cook. Again, have the kiddos help out. Just make sure to clean the kitchen:)

Breakfast In Bed

It doesn’t have to be fancy. Brew some coffee, whip some breakfast together, add a flower from the yard to the tray and after mom has had plenty of beauty sleep surprise her with breakfast in bed.

Dessert

Moms love dessert. If you don’t know what her favorite is, ask around to figure it out and make the mom in your life something sweet.

Spa Day At Home

Most days Mom is lucky if she gets to take a bath without an audience and a tub full of toys. Give her a few hours to take a bath, paint her nails,  light some candles, chill some wine, and let mom enjoy a spa day at home.

Timeout

Yes, sometimes mom needs s a timeout too. Give her a few hours to start that book she bought a year ago, or to start a new series on Netflix. Just think about things she enjoyed doing before kids but doesn’t seem to have the time for these days, and give that to her. She will love it, trust me.

Night Out

Set aside a night for mom to go out with friends, or maybe she just wants to stroll through Target without anyone melting down. Basically just give her a night out to relax without worrying about dinner or childcare.

Again, it’s not the expense that matters. It’s the act of taking time and effort to remind mom that she is loved and appreciated for all she does. I hope you found these free Mother’s Day gift ideas helpful and take the time to show all the moms in your life some love this Mother’s Day.
