Newest Beauty Trend: Should Women Shave Their Faces Too?

Women Shave Faces

Women Shave Faces

So I’m totally outing myself on this one, but some things are too good not to share. In case you haven’t heard, there’s an increase in women shaving their faces these days. Now let’s be clear, women have been shaving their faces on the down low for quite some time- insert beauty icons Marlyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, and some say all the way back to Cleopatra. And now it has become a buzzworthy habit thanks to you-tubers and even celebs singing the shaving praises. Being the beauty guinea pig that I am, I gave it a shot.

Why I Did It

To preface, I’m a natural blonde. So thankfully the hairs I do have aren’t super noticeable. However, I also have PCOS (a hormone disorder) which means I have more blonde hairs than the average blondie. Hence my reason for trying this out.

What I Did

I used this Women’s Face Razor from Walmart. Although some gals shave with a dry face, I thought my face needed some moisture to protect it. So I used some oil to prep and started shaving. Im not going to lie, it was weird at first. Especially when I started making some of the same weird facial expressions that my husband does when shaving, but I got used to it. I was a bit shocked at how much hair was really on my face.

What I Thought

I loved the results! I couldn’t stop touching my face, it was so much smoother! Bonus: since your razor acts as an exfoliator, you’re left with younger, more dewy looking skin (think of it like a mini facial). Also- if you’re worried about it growing back thicker, or darker, that’s a myth and won’t happen. Basically whatever kind of hair you shave off, is what kind of hair will grow back. And now that those fuzzy hairs are gone, your products go on better, and you can use less. Sidenote: if you use powder foundation, this helps sooo much!

The only con I can say about shaving your face is that once you do it, you probably aren’t going to want to stop, which means another task on your beauty to-do list. Sorry!
