A Few of My Favorite Things

We’ve all been there. You’re standing at the aisle gazing at the never ending options, formulas, and shades in front of you. Then you get home and that dry shampoo gives you gray hair, or that shade of foundation you thought matched perfectly leaves you looking like an Oompa Loompa. So I’m sharing a few of my favorites in the hopes of saving you from buying bad products that leave you with less money in your bank account and more clutter in your makeup drawer. image.

Up first, Dry Shampoo. This Keratin Infused Dry Shampoo by Suave is A-mazing! Seriously, I went way too long with this stuff in my hair the first time I used it. Why you ask, because I could! Typically my fine hair can only handle one or two days with dry shampoo before its gets really frizzy and dry feeling. But thanks to the keratin in this inexpensive dupe your hair stays frizz-free and manageable. If you’re looking for a product to spend less on, this is it.

Next we have this Faux Leather Bow by Forever 21

At $2.90 it’s perfect for days when you want a quick but chic hair do. Think top knot + bow or Barbie style pony tail. Another inexpensive find that adds a lot, especially for fine hair.

Now on to  Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation .

If there’s ever a place you want to invest more money into, it’s your face. I mean, it’s with you for life and there’s no hiding it. What led me to Bobbi Brown’s counter was a chain of bad color matches from brands like Clinique, Maybelline, Almay, etc… every shade left me with a reddish tint, super flattering. So I stopped by and when they color matched my skin tone they told me that Bobbi uses a yellow base, which is perfect for olive skin tones like mine. When I got in my car and looked in the mirror, I was hooked. Even in natural light (the best light for checking your foundation color) it matched perfectly and left my skin dewy and healthy looking. Like I said, it’s a pricier purchase, but it goes on really thin and it lasts me almost a year!  And once you get your right color you can go online to stores like Sephora and use beauty points and coupons to lessen the price.

Last but not least we have the Foundation Brush by Circa

This little brush is available at Walgreens for $12! I found it after the makeup artist at Bobbi Brown used a brush to apply my foundation. Of course Bobbi has her own line of brushes and I’m sure they are wonderful, but I budget where I can, and this was a comparable switch. Haven’t tried a foundation brush? You definitely should. It gives it an airbrushed effect and leaves you free from the dirt and oil on your fingers.

So there you have it friends. A few favorites. Enjoy!

    1. They have different formulas for different types of skin. I would have them color match you with the right formula and then ask for a sample. They can give you a little tube of foundation to try. 🙂

  1. I’ve been looking into drugstore dry shampoos that can handle my oily roots. do you find the Suave one to give you that fresh feeling after using it? I’ve tried so many that just make me feel the same or even greasier/heavy. lol.

    1. I’ve tried so many drugstore dry shampoos and this one is my favorite all around. Smells great, no residue, refreshes oily hair (mine gets oily hours after washing it) and it’s super inexpensive!
